The Parent-Teacher Association supports the school in a wide variety of ways. Parents and teachers have developed a strong and positive partnership that provides benefits to the students, the school overall, and the community. Some of the activities include Book Fairs, school pictures, Spirit Days, T-shirts and spirit items, Math Night, Reading Night, and Boxtops for Education. The PTA has funded programs for the school and support to the students who travel to various sports and activities in Europe. The PTA is a great way to get involved with the school!

School Advisory Committee/Installation Advisory Committee (SAC/IAC)
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) is made up of elected parents, educators, and student representatives. Its purpose is to improve the quality of education for the betterment of the children at IUS. DoD Instruction 5105.49 states, “the establishment of local advisory committees … fosters the participation in school affairs by members of the school and community.” The SAC meets the third Thursday of each month. All meetings are open and parents are welcome to attend.
What is SAC?
Every school in the Department of Defense, has a School Advisory Committee (SAC). The SAC consists of teachers, administrators, parents, students and military liaisons from the community.
The advisory committees areas of responsibility include all matters within the jurisdiction of the principal and/or DoDDS including: policies affecting students and parents, administrative procedures affecting students, instructional programs, educational resources, allocation of resources to achieve educational goals, pupil services, students standards of conduct and discipline, and school transportation (DETMO). If you have a question, comments, or concerns in one of these areas we would love to hear them.
However, some issues that are not addressed by the committee are: personnel practices or policies, compensations, or grievances of school employees. The SAC is not the place to complain or praise the teachers. Also, the advisory committee does not have any authority to: raise money, grant student scholarships, financially support school events, or engage in any monetary projects traditionally associated with PTSA’s, Boosters, or any other support groups. For further information about the SAC please call the school at 676-6330.
The positive and consistent School/Home/Community partnership provides a safe and wholesome environment for our students to learn and achieve. It is recognized that parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children. It is through parents' involvement that children develop the value of learning and working, the importance of relationships and constructive use of leisure time. Parental involvement and participation at Incirlik is an understood, necessary and expected partnership. Volunteer opportunities can be explored through your child's teacher, the school office, and SAC.
